Gulf Oil Spill Update

Pensacola Divers Report "All Clear" 34 miles offshore - May 18

Capt. Douglas Hammock of the "H2O Below" conducted a sweep of the local area on Tuesday, May 18 with divers from MBT Divers. They conducted dive operations 34 miles off shore of Pensacola Pass in an area known as the "edge." Maximum depth of the dive was 215'. No signs of oil contamination of any sort were found, and the reef and all inhabitants appeared healthy and happy.

On May 19, MBT Divers and the "H2O Below" are hosting renowned underwater photographer David Doubilet on an expedition to document the impact that the Gulf oil spill has had on the local environment for National Geographic.
